My beautiful girl is off to band camp for a week! We had soooooo much stuff to pack I think she might be gone for 2 weeks.
When I was her age I went to the exact same band camp so I know she’s about to have the time of her life.
She didn’t want me to walk her over to her friends, but at this very moment she was like “Mom I forgot my instrument”, so I actually did walk it over to her.
These are the memories that will last a lifetime. This week will be so fun because not only does she get to spread her wings, but she also gets to be a part of a team.
The band is a family just like the football team and it’s a great feeling to be supported by such a huge group.
It’s going to be a hot one this week so I told her to drink lots of water.
I forgot to tell you the craziest part of this entire story. She’s played the drums her entire life, but if she wanted to march this year then she couldn’t play the drums because the upperclassmen have first dibs.
She now plays the mellophone, which I had never even heard of until now?!?!? But it turns out this child of mine is resilient, and adaptable and up for the challenge.
Bring her momma has been one of my biggest gifts yet and I can’t wait to write 3 more blogs about the next years at band camp.
But until then I’ll leave you with this, learn to live in the moment because it’s the only thing that truly matters.
