Why Fun is Better Then Pretty

https://www.facebook.com/tavia.hayduk/videos/10203455004734446/My daughter got a cupcake book from the school library and she proceeded to pick out the most complicated ducks I’ve ever seen!

I feel the need to let you know that I am not a baker! I like to cook and I can do it pretty well, but baking is so precise. Every little ingredient needs to be exactly right, or it tastes like poop!
When I cook and make homemade biscuits and gravy, I don’t follow a recipe. I just begin my process knowing that my taste buds will guide me in the right direction. πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³

But because my sweet girl wants to make these damn ducks, we’re going to do it. You won’t even believe that the head of the duck is a freaking donut hole.
Oh yes friends we had to make the cupcakes, and then we had to concoct a past to get donut to stick to the cupcake. Then we had to freeze them, and then icing them

And then decorate them.
This was more fun then it was pretty. I will not be signing up to bake anything for the local fair anytime soon. Those ducks brought more laughs with them than anything. They might be ugly but they tasted amazing.
My daughter and I had a great time in the kitchen together making memories. Things don’t need to be perfect, to be fun. There’s no shame in our duckies, we were actually kind of proud of them!
I’m even proud of myself for trying to make the damn things! In the past I might have told her no way Jose! Your mommas good at hair, skin, writing, and talking, But not good at baking!
I think it’s important to be real with your kids. We don’t need to pretend like we know everything, and we always have all of the answers. We need to be real with them, so they can see that we’re still learning daily about ourselves.
We need to let them see us not only when we’re happy, but also when we’re sad. It’s our job to teach them how to deal with their feelings, and if we don’t know how to deal with ours then how can we teach them to deal with theirs?
I’m on a mission for conscious parenting. It’s the road less traveled, but it’s really what the world needs more of. I choose to be real with my daughter and let her see the parts of me that I might not like so much. And then I hope she will share her stories with me also.
Have fun with your kids and take the time to learn from them! Yes you are their teacher, but they are here to teach you as well.
Are you ready to learn?
Epic cupcake fail equals years and years of laughter!
As soon as we forget about it, then it shows up on my time hop!

Enjoy life it’s passing you by faster than you realizeπŸ’œ
