It’s the first day of school here and I have a middle schooler! It’s the old cliche, where does the time go? But it’s so true! I feel like at some point in our lives, we are wishing for something else. We can’t wait until they can walk. We can’t wait until they can go to school. We can’t wait until they are out of school for the summer. We can’t wait, we can’t wait, we can’t wait, and then all of a sudden it’s time for school. And the we can’t wait, turns into a mushy mess because “I can’t believe your so old!” “Where does the time go?”
I think our minds are a powerful thing. If you asked my daughter, she will tell you that I preach live in the moment. But many times I find myself wishing away the current moment! So now that I am aware of this, I plan to be more conscious. I am going to try to be aware of those thoughts, and to turn them around so I can be present. I will try to learn something new each day, and I will share it with my friends.
If we take the time to learn from our children, I believe we can help heal broken parts of ourselves. I think that our kids are gifts from God, and treasures to cherish. I don’t want to confuse my dreams, with my kids dreams. I want them to dream whatever dream is true to them. I want them to be who they are, and to be proud of that. I want to learn from my biggest teachers and I want to create healthy relationships with them.
Above you saw the first day of school with my husband and my daughter. (He’s a teacher at her school) It was a great morning! Below you will see a different picture. It’s yet another memory that is etched in my heart. It’s my son on the day of his graduation from High School!
I started with where does the time go, and I will end with where does the time go? My son is 24 now and he is a father! That’s an amazing thing to watch! You will never get these days back, and you will never know how many days you have left.
Take time to enjoy where you are, and don’t wish away anything because life is a gift and your kids are your miracles.
