Music is one of my all time favorite things. I mean seriously, there are so many ways that music fills my soul. I can hear a song from 20 years ago, and it will take me right back in time. As a matter of fact when we were driving home late the other night from the amusement park, Digital Underground came on the radio. My 11 year old daughter and her friend were in the backseat causin a ruckus about our choice of music. I proceeded to crank that dial up and sing every word of the Humpty Dance, and damn well I might add! (Bonus points because the friend told her mom I knew every single word) Oh my goodness, it makes me smile right now just thinking about it.
Do you ever hear your wedding song? You know, the first one you danced to as Mr. And Mrs. That one will get ya! Mine was country which is super weird because I hate country. (Bonus points for my hubby on that one) It was Tim McGraw, It’s your love! I will pause and reflect for a moment and yet again I will smile. There’s a tiny memory locked away somewhere that you just broke through to the surface. The power of music is undeniable. If you don’t like some sort of music, then your another kind of cray cray.
If I’ve had a bad day and I go get in the car, and my jam is playing, then BOOM my mood changes. I once again go in for the turn! Crank it up, I want to feel it as much as I want to hear it. Right now it would probably be Justin Timberlakes, Can’t stop the feeling. Oh yes, we did that one the other day in our Jazzercise class! We be jammin! With music your always making new memories, and at the same time, remembering the old ones.
Music makes me feel happy, and it can also make me feel sad, or, even happy, sad! Yes you know excatly what I’m talking about. It’s like when I hear a song that was played at my grandpas funeral, it makes me sappy. I feel like I’m there again. It makes me miss him more, but it also makes me smile. Yet again, another memory has been triggered by these amazing beats.
Really music can be a cure all for many things. It can you take you back in time to when you were young, wild and crazy! Rough Riders will make me think I live at the beach again. I have my cousin down there, who came to visit and never left for the whole entire summer. I have my best friend and we were wild and free. I have zero regrets in this life. The older I get the more I realize that every single thing happens for a reason. Music is my life.
